Long-Term Airport Planning, Operational Strategy & Multi-Agency Collaboration
Planning for the future of an international airport extends well beyond infrastructure. It requires the integration of operational realities, airspace design, projected demand, environmental stewardship, regulatory requirements, and collaboration across multiple organizations responsible for the aviation system.
While serving with NAV CANADA, I contributed operational expertise during the development of the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) 2037 Master Plan through participation in consultations coordinated by the Vancouver Airport Authority and the Aeronautical Noise Management Committee (ANMC).
These discussions examined how future airport development, airspace requirements, navigation technologies, operational capacity, and community considerations could be integrated into a long-term strategic vision for one of Canada's busiest airports.
The resulting Master Plan reflects a collaborative planning process involving airport authorities, air navigation services, regulators, airlines, municipalities, and other stakeholders working together to support safe, efficient, and sustainable growth.
